A BAG FULL OF POP!

And so flourishes the religion of POP . We are back in color! Oh..yes..I recall- how can I forget that? We all did a project on POP ART during our print design module. Or so, the teacher was a pop art buff! I think she got the same theme from her teacher while she was a student! So, I can even bluff that I know so much about POP :p.

Marilyn Monroe to Andy Warhol, Kitschy judgement to circuses and tents! Hope you can relate to the movie DEV D. Then, there were comic strips and the Coca Cola branding. There was fluorescence and there was Manish Arora (below his design for spring/summer 2008).

And talk about today, I recently visited some flea markets here in Bangalore and was so glad to discover the inclination our generation has got for this particular vocabulary. Upcoming design labels like Chumbak ,soda unbottled, Yelo, kya cheez hai, Kili and so many more ( I wish to upload those pics too soon ;) ) are just on track to make you fall in love . I am forgetting so many names right now!!

CHILDHOOD FIDDLES

All of us had our own childhood fiddles. We loved, we cared for, we talked to and we did every act of the day with it. Oh wait: it wasn't IT, right? we had given names and defined (it) male/female...whatever....Barbies, G I Joes, Smurfs, hot wheels, or just Teddy bears!

Well, mine was brown colored Teddy which I haven't let my mother dump yet, (neither washed :P)
makes me feel nostalgic of the times we didn't have to think. Neither care about what we talked, nor have definite schedules or any responsibilities!...Gone are those days!...but feels good to meet our childhood fiddle again!

FESTIVAL IN FASHION

Wishing everyone a very happy and safe Diwali!
A festival and my blog! The connection?? Fashion!...? :O ??
Nah..not the usual fashion: what I wore ? whats in Fashion?...blah..blah...I should have posted on that long ago...but..I din't! And I am not blaming the overload of work in my office for that! Am I?

So, my Diwali has always been quiet and colorful. For, I don't contribute in the increasing pollution caused by crackers.
For me, its sweets, flowers, dressing up and making rangoli! That's how I fete it! And you ought to be at home for the occasion.
And I was with a camera during the whole puja just to update it all here! ;)

So, this post is a bit different from the rest. I feel good to share my way of celebrating this time. Its what I enjoy and not necessarily in fashion! Its not the finger quoted trend of the time! Its when you breathe the cultural sweetness and live in the extraordinary moments! And think over the tech version of puja :P

FACING THE SUN TODAY!

O .....I am working too much these days (you can see that my boss doesn't let me blog :s)...So, the only way I can have a cheerful day is by dressing myself up!
And ditto! My day was good--despite 12.5 hrs of work! :x

the little fun we have clicking and sipping tea on the galla outside feels enough to keep me on!
I had been seeing a lot of DIY stuff lately visiting the flea and design markets..///..if only I could not laze around and push myself to make something !...but... after too much pondering...i thought....oh..cut the crap.. I should buy the pretty crochet sunflower scrunchy...and just randomly mixed it up with some earthy color linen pants and floral shirt. The fact is, "hearing a single compliment can make your day"!

RIP STEVE JOBS: the Geek Fashion iCon!

Time: A day after Steve Job’s death

A slight drizzle fell upon a small crowd that lined the front of the Apple Store on 1 Stockton Street Thursday morning. People stood in front of the iconic franchise to pay their respects to an iconic man. Steve Jobs, the man behind the Apple, had passed away the day before, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Outside the store, a small memorial was set up. Flowers, candles, and even apples were placed at the foot of the glass windows surrounding the store. On the windows, people left post-it notes in memory of Jobs. Many notes simply said, “RIP Steve”. Some others left messages, including, “No businessman changed the world the way you did. Thanks and “We are the same age. See you on the other side.”
The store has a sad and depressing vibe, even though the business continues. It feels like Alexander McQueen’s tragedy all over again. It is a shocking event to the world, because the man changed the whole world.

What is somewhat more surprising is that his geeky fashion sense has seemingly come into vogue overnight. Sales of black mock turtlenecks, as worn by Steve Jobs at product launches, have sharply increased. Back in the 70s and 80s his wardrobe used to be a mix of everything, from walking around the Apple campus barefoot in a t-shirt and shorts to old school three-piece suits to show his computers in fairs and keynotes.
Does it matter, what brand loyalty you show while buying clothes? Yeah, you could be loyal enough to buy apple products but it is a thought to ponder that the CEO of apple didn’t care for wearing a cashmere turtle neck. But, a mock turtle neck black tee was all he needed to dress up for product launches! It’s a sartorial Distinction, a universal form of public camouflage – blandly appropriate and never distracting.

FLOWER FRIENDS

Here's another blooming post about your winter must-haves fashion looks!
Call them always in trend. Florals!
what matters is how you coordinate them up with the rest to get a not-always-floral look!

keep in mind not to pair up a floral garment with another one! I tried creating looks wherein you can pair up any one floral garment with rest of the plain coordinates! (guash, i should work on my fashion vocab!). For eg. If you have a floral tee, pair it up with plain scarf, denims and bag! The other way, if you are planning to wear everything plain and need some accent in your look, try wearing a floral scarf! And there's a beautiful floral jacket, you could team up with a plain dress.

Accessories complete your look. So, don't forget garnishing your look!

CODE BLUE

Blue comes back to signature in the winter! It wasn't too cold, but you see, designers are pretty much ahead to follow the forecast! (rather, we pop the out ;p)
And blue electrifies my post once again!..well, this time to give some details about CODE BLUE!

electric blue. cobalt. grey. black -what a delight to the eyes! (in-spite being called electric aye), certain shades make you feel so comfy and cozy while you wear them. Less maintenance, more repetitions! Go along with multiple matches!
Splash some bright color onto your shoes or accessories to break the catenation! Or totally bling yourself with sparkling accessories!

Believe me, It was accidental that we all wore Blue that day! Well, I got electrified obviously! Thanks Aparna and Kumkum.
PS: the last picture- Aparna pocket is glittered! That's a brilliant idea for a DIY project! I am keen on doing it (soon)!
